Himalayan stove project
Thousands of people in the Himalayas cook food on open fires in enclosed spaces. This results in respiratory and eye diseases which can lead to early death, and is an inefficient way to burn which means that wood, already scarce, is quickly used up. The Himalayan stove project provides more efficient cook stoves with a chimney system to reduce the smoke by a whopping 90%. The stoves are sold to members of the local community for a contribution which that community decides on. The contributions are then ciculated back into the community to help fund things like health projects.
